Abstract

An ad-hoc network (MANET) is set of different types of mobile node. MANET is mobile so they utilize wireless connection to attach with network. MANET can be deployed at low cost in variety of application. In MANET different types of routing protocols have been recommended. These protocols can be classified into three main categories reactive (on-demand), proactive (table-driven) and hybrid routing protocols. MANET uses location-centric paradigm rather than identity-centric paradigm that are used in most of the networks. Using this paradigm is well suited for privacy in hostile and suspicious mobile
ad-hoc networks. For achieving privacy and security, various protocols are proposed. This paper presents a state-of-the-art review and a comparison for typical representatives of routing protocols designed for mobile ad hoc networks. And provides criteria according to which the protocols can be compared and classified.
