Abstract

Innovative techniques that improve energy efficiency to prolong the network lifetime are highly required. Clustering is an effective topology control approach in wireless sensor networks, which can increase network scalability and lifetime. In this paper, we propose a novel clustering schema for wireless sensor networks, which better suits the periodical data gathering applications. Our approach elects cluster heads with more residual energy through local radio communication while achieving well cluster head distribution. And this scheme is secure against adaptive chosen-message attacks. Preventing or detecting malicious nodes launching gray hole or collaborative black hole attacks is a challenge. This paper attempts to resolve this issue by designing a dynamic source routing (DSR)-based routing mechanism, which is referred to as the RKP (Random Key Pre-distribution) that integrates the advantages of both proactive and reactive defense architectures. Our RKP method implements a reverse tracing technique to help in achieving the stated goal
